STEP ONE
What was the brief?
Octane Construction was appointed by Metalcraft Projects to deliver a new Starbucks drive-thru store in Guisborough, continuing the brand’s ongoing national rollout. The scheme involved transforming a vacant plot into a fully operational retail unit, constructed in line with Starbucks’ design, performance, and customer experience standards.
The brief required complete site development including earthworks, drainage installation, and full building construction within a designated schedule. Octane was responsible for coordinating multiple trades, managing compliance with environmental and safety regulations, and ensuring each phase met strict programme milestones and quality expectations.
STEP TWO
What did Octane do?
As Principal Contractor, Octane Construction delivered every stage of the build programme from mobilisation to completion. The project was structured into four key phases:
Site Establishment & Groundworks: Site hoarding, compound formation, and welfare setup were followed by excavation, earthworks, and ground improvement to prepare the site for construction.
Structural & Envelope Works: Octane completed all substructure, foundation, and steel frame works before installing composite roof systems, façade cladding, and external masonry. Windows, doors, and the signature drive-thru canopy were added to match Starbucks’ national specification.
Fit-Out & M&E Installations: Mechanical, electrical, and drainage systems were installed alongside internal blockwork, ceilings, partitions, and finishes. Bespoke joinery and lighting schemes created a consistent, high-quality interior.
External Works & Completion: Drainage connections, kerbing, surfacing, and landscaping were completed, with final detailing including fencing, signage, and white lining to deliver a ready-to-trade retail unit.
STEP THREE
What was the result?
The new Starbucks Guisborough drive-thru was completed within programme and to specification, providing a modern, efficient, and visually consistent retail environment. The build achieved all performance, compliance, and aesthetic targets, creating a smooth handover for operational launch.
