STEP ONE
What was the brief?
Metalcraft Projects commissioned Octane Construction to deliver a new Starbucks drive-thru store on Valley Road, Bradford, as part of their ongoing UK expansion programme. The project required the complete development of a new site, including ground preparation, service connections, and construction of a fully branded retail unit built to Starbucks’ national specification.
The works involved forming a new site compound, undertaking full civil and structural works, and coordinating with multiple subcontractors to ensure consistent delivery within tight time constraints. The brief required strict adherence to design standards, environmental requirements, and health and safety protocols while maintaining Starbucks’ high-quality finish and customer experience standards.
STEP TWO
What did Octane do?
Octane Construction acted as Principal Contractor, delivering the full project scope from site establishment through to handover. The phased programme included:
Site Preparation & Groundworks: The site was cleared, temporary hoarding erected, and welfare facilities installed. Full ground remediation and drainage installation were completed to support the new building footprint.
Structural & Building Works: Concrete foundations and floor slabs were poured before erecting the steel frame and installing composite wall cladding and roof systems. External masonry and façade detailing followed, meeting Starbucks’ corporate identity standards.
Mechanical, Electrical & Internal Fit-Out: Internal blockwork, first and second fix installations, and external service connections were completed, including the installation of HVAC, lighting, and plumbing systems. Fit-out works included partitioning, ceilings, flooring, and bespoke joinery.
External & Finishing Works: Drive-thru lanes, car park surfacing, and landscaping were completed, alongside installation of signage and external lighting to create a safe, customer-ready environment.
STEP THREE
What was the result?
The Valley Road Starbucks project was completed successfully within the planned 88-day programme and fully aligned with the brand’s specification. The new store provides a high-quality customer experience, efficient drive-thru operation, and energy-efficient building performance.
Octane Construction’s proactive management and structured delivery ensured smooth coordination between trades and on-time completion.
