STEP ONE

What was the brief?

The Park Grange Farm project involved a sensitive barn restoration and conservation scheme, focused on converting three traditional farm buildings into high-quality AirB&B holiday lets. Octane Construction was appointed to deliver a transformation that carefully preserved the barns’ historical character and architectural heritage while reinforcing their structural integrity.

The client’s goal was to retain authentic features such as slate roofs, timber frames, and original stonework, while preparing the buildings for modern hospitality use. The scope also included ensuring each structure was future-ready for full interior refurbishment and external landscaping. This barn conversion brief required a balance of conservation expertise, rural construction knowledge, and a commitment to sustainable, sympathetic building methods, all essential for creating distinctive, comfortable guest accommodation with lasting appeal.

STEP TWO

What did Octane do?

Octane Construction acted as Principal Designer on the Park Grange Farm project, bringing a careful, considered approach to every stage of the restoration process. Our team began with a comprehensive structural investigation of each barn, identifying areas of instability and meticulously dismantling any unsafe elements. This allowed us to reconstruct the barns using reclaimed original materials and traditional construction techniques, preserving the historic character and architectural charm of the buildings. As part of our modernisation strategy, we also installed a fully compliant drainage system and an energy-efficient sewage treatment plant to support the future use of the barns as luxury Airbnb holiday lets. The result is a series of visually authentic yet fully functional buildings, future-proofed for hospitality use and ready to accommodate interior fit-outs and landscaping in the next phase of development.

This project highlights our expertise in heritage building restoration, sustainable construction practices, and delivering sensitive conversions that blend tradition with modern performance.

What was the result?

The completed works at Park Grange Farm delivered modern functionality while preserving the rich heritage of the original barn structures, laying the perfect foundation for the next phase of development. Each of the three barns was carefully stabilised, upgraded, and structurally prepared to support full interior fit-outs and future external landscaping, ensuring readiness for their transformation into premium 5-star Airbnb holiday lets. The project successfully balanced traditional craftsmanship with contemporary building standards, retaining historic features such as slate roofs, timber frames, and original stonework.

This seamless integration of old and new has created a high-quality, character-filled hospitality environment that reflects the charm of the farm’s rural legacy while meeting the expectations of today’s modern travellers.
