STEP ONE

What was the brief?

Leeds Bradford Airport required the design and construction of a new, fit-for-purpose car park to support DNATA, a global air services provider. The solution needed to be delivered on a live and operational airport site. Requiring the highest standards of quality, environmental compliance, and minimal disruption to surrounding airport activities.

The client needed a reliable contractor who could manage demolition, drainage infrastructure, surface works, and lighting installations.  All within a tight timeline and variable weather conditions.

STEP TWO

What did Octane do?

The project required precision, coordination, and efficiency to ensure minimal disruption to the airport’s ongoing operations. Scope of works included:

Demolition of two redundant airport buildings, including the safe removal and environmentally responsible disposal of all associated materials.
Installation of a comprehensive drainage system, incorporating a large-capacity car park attenuation tank and hydrobrake manhole to effectively manage stormwater and minimise flood risk.
Kerbing and surfacing, involving ground preparation, high-quality tarmac surfacing, and precise white lining to define parking bays and manage vehicle movement efficiently.
LED lighting column installation to provide bright, energy-efficient, and uniform illumination across the full car park area, enhancing visibility and safety for users.

The works were delivered through detailed planning, close collaboration with airport stakeholders, and strong on-site leadership. Regular progress reviews helped to maintain momentum, and the project remained ahead of schedule – a noteworthy achievement given the time of year and the logistical challenges posed by working within a live airport environment.
